Huawei is really in trouble without ARM licenses

Huawei is in really trouble with business stopped by ARM.

A mobile phone chip usually has many CPUs apart from the 4 or more main cores which are well known by most of consumers. It wouldn't surprise me if there are more than 10 small CPUs such as ARM M0, M3 of M4 inside.

Without licenses from ARM for those small cores, I expected Huawei is no more able to make the Kiren chip legally.

Let's wait and see.

Tesco mobile doesn't allow forward calls to another number which is really annoying when traveling out of EU as I want to forward the call to a VoIP number.

Boeing Issue is System Failure of Management

The Boeing problem is not a single technical issue, it is a system failure of the management including specifying, design, verification, validation, quality control and certifying.

Looking backwards, there are some obvious flaw of the MCAS system on the very early specifying stage, and none of the later management process including FAA checking caught the problem.

If those management system issues cannot be addressed by Boeing, then I expect more and more issues will be discovered, some may more serious than the MCAS system flaw.

Boeing is still trying to limit the issue in technical level which is the most dangerous thing.

update on 21/Oct/2018:
It might be caused by the use model combined with FreeNas and HDD. I was created 6 ESXi 500GB HDD files which made a 3TB striped volume in FreeNAS. It is likely FreeNAS considers that all 6 HDDs are independent and wait for the responses of the "sync write access" from all the 6 HDDs. Since the 6 HDDs are actually from a single physical HDD, so it is possible causes too much load for a single HDD and results HDD hung.

I am now testing a single ESXi 3TB HDD file to make the volume in FreeNAS, it has been running for a few days and so far looks good.

Churchill Home Insurance is a Joke

The roof of house was damaged by the storm at night of 2/January. Churchill Home Insurance declined my claim. Churchill Home Insurance said it is because is not properly maintenanced and there's no storm reported despite storm news reported on various news.

Moto(Lenovo) X style reports no sim card

My Moto(Lenovo) X Style is two years old, and keeps saying no sim card. I can reboot to make it working, but I can't keep checking the phone and reboot it every hour.

It is so annoying. It is possible my last Moto phone. I owned lots Moto phones in the past including Moto G2, Moto E, 2 x Moto X Style etc.

关于虐童现象

女儿在约5岁时(约8年前)回国探亲，到国内当地一很有名的幼儿园体验生活。因为没有习惯午睡，被看护的阿姨(老师)恐吓说要扔出窗外，至今她记忆犹新。看护阿姨知道她是国外小孩，只是体验几天。女儿当时也不敢告诉大人，最近几年她长大慢慢懂事了才告诉大人。

这里并没有责备看护阿姨的意思，只是想说除了体罚，还有精神上的惩罚。另外大部分家长自己(包括受过高等教育的我)也会对小孩体罚和精神惩罚。

这些并不是某特定人的过错，也许需要官方教育牵头下至少一代人的努力；如果没有官方教育牵头，只是任凭社会自己纠正，一代人也许远远不够。等到家长不会对自己小孩进行体罚(惩罚)的那一天，这些现象才可能会慢慢减少。

呼吁大家能够用自己的影响力，从身边做起，争取让这种现象慢慢减少。
